Kelly Clarkson Files for Divorce

Kelly Clarkson is calling it quits on her marriage of 7 years to Brandon Blackstock. On June 4th, the 38-year-old filed divorce papers to end her marriage.

Clarkson is the first American Idol champion, and she got married to her husband Blackstock in 2013.

The former couple has two kids, son Remington 4 and daughter River, who is 5. Clarkson said that the two had irreconcilable differences and that is the reason she was filling for annulment.

Also, she requested that she should not be asked to pay spousal support to Blackstock.

The filing also asks that Kelly’s last name, Clarkson, be restored to her which is a sign that they had a prenuptial agreement. The singer first met Blackstock when he worked as a road manager for Rascal Flatts’.

During an interview with USA Today in 2012, Clarkson said that she was instantly attracted to Blackstock the minute she saw him.

Also, she added that he had greatly influenced her music choices.

The couple started dating in 2012 and later got married in 2013 in Tennessee.

The two opted to have a low key wedding since they both had busy schedules.  Since then, the two have built a family of four together.

Two of the kids are Clarkson and Blackstock’s children, while the other two are children from Blackstock’s previous relationship.

Before filing the divorce, Kelly used to post pictures of her and Blackstock together with their cute family on her Instagram account.

As of late, Kelly has been keeping busy. Recently she dropped a hot single during the COVID 19 pandemic, and she also has her daytime talk show.
