“Empire Star” Jussie Smollett was brutally attacked in a racist hate crime in Chicago. Jussie, was attacked by two men tho viciously beat him up, put a noose over his head, and yelled the words “This is MAGA country.”
Chicago police have been doing a through investigation which included long hours of reviewing all security footage to locate a possible lead. The Chicago PD may now be getting a little closer to a lead. According to NBC News, “after thorough review of security video in the attack on actor Jussie Smollett, there are now “potential persons of interest” that investigators would like to question.”
“Hours ago #ChicagoPolice detectives located a surveillance camera that shows potential persons of interest wanted for questioning in reference to the assault & battery of Empire actor,” department Anthony Guglielmi tweeted. “A community alert w/ photos is being constructed and will be disseminated shortly.”
According to TMZ , Jussie arrived in Chicago from New York around 2am, Tuesday morning. The Empire star was hungry and went to Subway for a bite to eat. Shortly after he walked out of the Subway while on his way home, someone yelled “Aren’t you that f***ot ‘Empire’ n*****?”
There were 2 white men both wearing white ski masks as they approached Jussie, viciously attacking him as he tried his best to fight back. The men put a rope around his neck, poured bleach on him and yelled “This is MAGA country.”
Jussie was able to walk himself to Northwestern Memorial where he was treated. He was discharged later Tuesday morning.
8 days prior to his attack, Fox studios in Chicago received an envelope addressed to Jussie, “You will die black f*****.” There’s no confirmation if this envelope was sent by Jussie’s attackers.
